Alan L. Silver
Mr. Silver specializes in the gaming industry, including commercial casinos, racinos, Indian gaming, sports betting, and online gaming. He has extensively studied the fledgling gaming industry in Ohio, as well other emerging gaming jurisdictions nationally and internationally, including Russia, Canada, the Caribbean, and Asia. His areas of expertise include casino resort development and operations, marketing, advertising, economic impact analysis, game manufacturing, and development of players’ clubs and player tracking systems.
Mr. Silver offers a unique combination of private sector and academic experience. He is frequently called upon as a private industry consultant, providing consulting to gaming operators, gaming manufacturers, and Native American tribes.
Mr. Silver previously served as a marketing executive for numerous casinos and high-tech gaming manufacturing companies, including Red Lake Gaming, Sigma Game Inc., Aristocrat, and Leisure Time Casinos & Resorts. He also founded and operated a successful, award-winning advertising agency in the Los Angeles market for over ten years.
Mr. Silver is an assistant professor in the Restaurant, Hotel and Tourism Department at Ohio University. Prior to Ohio University, he served as Founding Director of the Casino Resort Management program at Tulane University. He was also an Adjunct Professor of Casino Marketing and Hospitality at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. He has led executive seminars and lectured on gaming topics across the United States and in Macau and Singapore. He has also organized, moderated, and participated in numerous conference panels and workshops on casino marketing and customer service at regional, national, and international levels.
Mr. Silver holds a B.A. and M.A. from California State University, Sacramento, and an MBA from the University of Southern California.
